IIT (ISM) Dhanbad ANRF JRF Recruitment 2026:

Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad has invited applications for 01 ANRF Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under an ANRF PMECRG/ECRG sponsored research project.

Project Title:

Complexity-Aware Hamiltonian Engineering for Non-Ergodic Quantum Dynamics

Project / Job Description:

The selected Junior Research Fellow will undertake theoretical and numerical studies relating to non-ergodic quantum dynamics and Hamiltonian engineering.

The research work will include:

• Theoretical studies of non-ergodic quantum dynamics;
• Numerical studies and simulations related to Hamiltonian engineering;
• Development and execution of simulation codes on the project's GPU workstation;
• Analysis of simulation and research results;
• Preparation of technical/research reports;
• Preparation of research manuscripts; and
• Other project-related work assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Essential Qualification:

• M.Sc. in Physics with First Class; OR
• Minimum 60% marks / 6.0 CGPA where class is not awarded; AND
• Valid CSIR-UGC NET (including LS) or GATE qualification.

Desirable Qualification / Skills:

• Knowledge of Quantum Mechanics;
• Knowledge of Quantum Many-Body Physics;
• Programming experience in Python / Julia / C++; and
• Familiarity with numerical methods used for quantum dynamics.

Age Limit:

Age will be governed by the applicable ANRF norms.

Relaxation will be applicable to SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates as per Government of India norms.

Fellowship:

Junior Research Fellow: ₹37,000 per month + admissible HRA, if staying outside the campus, for the first two years.

Senior Research Fellow: ₹42,000 per month + admissible HRA, if staying outside the campus, in the third year, subject to upgradation from JRF to SRF as per applicable DST norms.

Project Tenure:

The project is indicated to continue up to 02 September 2029 or co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier.

The appointment may be for a maximum period of three years or till the end of the project, whichever is earlier.
