• Age Limit: Not less than 35 years and not more than 60 years on the date of appointment.
• Category I: Degree from a recognised university with at least 7 years' experience of working with children in education, health, protection or welfare activities.
• Category II: Practising professional with a degree in Child Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work, Sociology, Human Development or Law, or a retired judicial officer.
• Candidate must not have a record of violation of human rights or child rights.
• Candidate must not have been convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude.
• Candidate must not have been removed or dismissed from Central/State Government service or a Government undertaking.
• Candidate must not have indulged in child abuse, child labour or any other violation of human rights.
• Candidate should not hold a full-time occupation that prevents necessary time and attention to JJB work.
• During tenure, the selected member cannot be associated with a Child Care Institution, hold political-party office or have a conflict of interest.

Engagement and Allowance

• Nature of Engagement: Honorary
• Term: 3 years
• Sitting Allowance: Rs. 2,000 per sitting
• The selection panel will remain valid for 1 year from the date of selection.
