Eligibility – Category I:
Candidates possessing a degree from a recognised University along with a minimum of 7 years of experience of working with children in the field of Education, Health, Protection or Welfare Activities may apply.
Eligibility – Category II:
Candidates may also apply under the professional category where they are practising professionals having the prescribed degree in areas such as Child Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work, Sociology, Human Development or Law, according to the concerned JJB/CWC eligibility provisions.
For Child Welfare Committees, a retired judicial officer is also included within the prescribed professional category.
Age Limit:
The candidate must be above 35 years and not more than 60 years of age at the time of appointment.
Other Eligibility Conditions:
- Candidate must not have any past record of violation of human rights or child rights.
- Candidate must not have been convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude unless such conviction has been reversed or pardon granted.
- Candidate must not have been removed or dismissed from Central/State Government service or Government-controlled undertaking/corporation.
- Candidate must never have been involved in child abuse, employment of child labour or other violation of human rights/immoral acts.
- Candidate should not hold a full-time occupation that prevents adequate time and attention to JJB/CWC responsibilities.
Nature & Term of Engagement:
The positions are honorary. Selected Social Worker Members of JJBs and Chairpersons/Members of CWCs will be appointed for a term of 3 years.
A sitting allowance of ₹2,000 per sitting will be payable as prescribed in the notification.
Selection Process:
The selection process will be conducted in two stages.
Stage 1 – Screening: Applications will first be screened to determine whether candidates satisfy the basic eligibility requirements. Only eligible applications will proceed for further evaluation.
Stage 2 – Evaluation by Selection Committee:
- Personal Interaction: 50 Marks
- Educational Qualification: 25 Marks
- Work Experience / Professional Practice: 25 Marks
- Total: 100 Marks
The Personal Interaction will assess aptitude for the position, attitude, domain knowledge and understanding of issues relating to child rights and protection.
Educational Qualification Marks:
- Above 75%: 25 Marks
- Above 60% to 75%: 20 Marks
- Above 45% to 60%: 15 Marks
- Up to 45%: 10 Marks

Undertaking:
An undertaking in the prescribed format must be executed on a non-judicial stamp paper of at least ₹100 and its scanned copy uploaded with the online application. This ₹100 stamp-paper requirement is not an application fee.
