CSIR-NML Jamshedpur Project Staff Recruitment 2026:
CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur, a laboratory under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), has invited eligible Indian nationals for engagement of Project Staff on a purely temporary and contractual basis against various time-bound research and sponsored projects.
The recruitment covers 48 project positions across different projects. Walk-in Interviews/Tests will be conducted group-wise from 06 October to 09 October 2026 at CSIR-NML, Burmamines, Jamshedpur.

Educational Qualification:
The educational qualification varies according to the project and position. Prescribed qualifications include:
- 10th Pass + ITI in Fitter / Turner / Electrician trades;
- 3-Year Diploma in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Chemical / Electronics / Computer Science and allied engineering disciplines;
- B.Sc. in Chemistry / Geology / Environmental Science / Information Technology and other prescribed disciplines;
- BCA;
- B.Tech. in Metallurgical / Materials / Mechanical / Chemical / Electronics / Electrical and allied Engineering disciplines;
- M.Sc. in Chemistry / Geology / Physics and prescribed science disciplines;
- M.Tech. in prescribed engineering disciplines;
- Ph.D. in Geology for Project Scientist-I; and
- NET/GATE/National-level qualification wherever specifically required for Project-JRF or higher fellowship.
Salary / Emoluments:
- Project Assistant-I: ₹18,000 + HRA per month
- Project Assistant-II: ₹20,000 + HRA per month
- Scientific Administrative Assistant: ₹24,000 + HRA per month
- Project-JRF: ₹37,000 + HRA per month
- Project Associate-I: ₹25,000 + HRA or ₹31,000 + HRA, subject to prescribed qualification; ANRF project rates are ₹30,000 / ₹37,000 + HRA as applicable
- Project Associate-II: ₹28,000 + HRA or ₹35,000 + HRA, as applicable
- Project Scientist-I: ₹77,000 + HRA per month
Age Limit:
- Project Assistant-I: Maximum 35 Years
- Project Assistant-II: Maximum 35 Years
- Scientific Administrative Assistant: Maximum 50 Years
- Project-JRF: Maximum 28 Years
- Project Associate-I: Maximum 35 Years; 50 Years for applicable ANRF-sponsored project
- Project Associate-II: Maximum 35 Years
- Project Scientist-I: Maximum 50 Years
Age will be calculated as on the concerned Walk-in Interview/Test date. Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates is applicable as stated in the notification.
Selection Process:
Selection will normally be through Walk-in Interview/Test. If a very large number of candidates appear, CSIR-NML may shortlist candidates through a written test or any other criteria adopted by the Screening Committee, and only shortlisted candidates will be allowed to appear for the interview.

Eligible candidates should report at CSIR-NML on the Walk-in date applicable to their Group between 09:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
Candidates must bring the duly filled prescribed Project Staff Application Form with a recent colour passport-size photograph and self-attested copies of all relevant certificates/documents.

Important Conditions:
The engagement is purely contractual and co-terminus with the concerned project. It does not confer any right to regular appointment, absorption or continuation in CSIR/CSIR-NML.
Candidates who have already completed 6 years or more as Project Staff in CSIR-NML or any other CSIR laboratory/institute are not eligible. Candidates having less than six years of such engagement can be appointed only up to completion of the prescribed six-year limit.
Final Semester/Final Year candidates who are awaiting their results and do not possess the final result on the date of the Walk-in Interview are not eligible.
Important: Candidates must attend on the date prescribed for their respective Group. Reporting time is 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Separate application form is required for each Group.
